Tea Party Demonstrations in 2008/2012

Yeah, me either... Not to brag, but I attended the very first Tea Party "gathering" it wasn't quite a "Demonstration". It was not coordinated, there is no actual "Tea Party". There is just a collection of like minded people.

 BIGMAN!!! YOU ARE A RASCIST?!?!

Not hardly... The original Tea Party "gathering" was at Lafayette Park, on April 15th, 2009. In the pouring rain... There were black attendants as well as many other races. There were, to my estimation about 1200-1500 people. Most gathered around a poorly covered platform, where speakers were complaining about the coming tax tsunami. I and my (at that time)20 year old son,  rode the Washington Metro downtown and walked to the Park. My son (who was wearing a t-shirt, bearing the likeness of Che' that had a circle with a line through it and the caption "Commies Aren't cool") and I carried a Gadsden flag, a flag that I had had for close to 20 years. Once at the park and specifically, near the White House fence, we stood with the flag outstretched for 10-15 minutes, we then walked around seeing what else was going on. Beside bad rhetoric from the stage, and people getting soaking wet, absolutely nothing. No fires, no effigies, no guns, no nooses, YAWN...

Except for a sense of accomplishment of actually going to the White House to exercise my first amendment rights, the only other thing I got was wet...

I bet you didn't go demonstrate or demonize ANY of the "White" Presidents.

No, you would be correct, I didn't go to Lafayette Park to protest any other President. Then again, no other President suggested and then approved of a tax based on race. Yes the Democrats had used taxes in the past to suppress the black vote (poll taxes), but that was on a state by state basis. It wasn't a Federal Tax.  I would protest ANY President who had proposed any tax that was being used for punitive purposes. I DON'T agree with other sin taxes either (alcohol and tobacco). When they are passed, the excuse used is that they will stop or reduce the behavior they are taxing. The problem with this is A. My behavior, as long as I don't infringe on your rights, is none of your business, and B. the Govt. gets used to the money provided by these taxes (which are constantly increased) and when the taxes do what they were designed to do, the revenue decreases or stops. Govt. never has to do with less, so they then raise taxes elsewhere to make up the short fall..

WHOA there big fella, I won't let you get away with that one. You made the claim of a "Race Based" but didn't specify what it was and whom was being targeted...

The Tax that I speak of the the Federal Tanning Tax, this is a 10% excise tax, paid by each customer when they use a tanning facility...

OK, I am calling Bullshit.... How is that remotely racist?

Really.... You don't see a Tanning Tax as being "race" specific... How many Blacks, Hispanics, Asians, Indians, or Africans go to tanning parlors? Oh, that's right, it was the "That's So Raven" show that originated the acronym "GTL" (Gym - Tan - Landry)..... Actually it was the horrible white reality show "Jersey Shore".

Everyone knows that that Tax was to discourage tanning to stop skin cancer...

Bullshit... It was a way to stick it to white people in general, and vain whites with disposable income in particular. If a 10% tax were to be levied on any number of group specific stereotypical behaviors, the left would lose it's collective mind..

I am a Libertarian, I believe "Progressives" are really "Regressives". They believe in Govt. control, Govt. ownership, and Govt. prescription of Social Norms. That is extremely regressive, in fact it reeks of  Feudalism and Monarchism. Progressives-Regressives-Totalatarians-Monarchists believe that they are chosen (for what ever reason and by whom or whatever they deem important) to be our keepers, they know what is best for society. Except, they never provide anything but death and misery.

I believe that everyone, if left alone, will find their own way and level of success depending on their efforts. Success is a favorite child of many parents, failure is an orphan. Not working with or for someone because of a superficial external reason may be what keeps you from succeeding in life. If you ascribe offensive stereotypes to people and use those as an excuse for excluding them from your life, you are limiting yourself and your potential. Hate and excuses are the only limits to what we all can become.
